From Ready Made Speed To ENVE-Powered Rocket.

The Pearson Forge road bike blends cutting-edge performance with rider-centric design, and Forge 1860’s recent upgrades elevate it into orbit.

A modern road bike built with a singular mission: to take riders Faster. Further. Designed by London-based The Pearson Bicycle Company, the Forge prioritises rider fit and real-world performance over pro-peloton slammed riding positions.

Its lightweight carbon frame and aerodynamic profile deliver controlled speed for shorter, fast efforts, while ensuring comfort and control for long-distance rides.

We decided to supercharge a standard Pearson build into an Enve-powered rocket. Our latest custom project does just that, upgrading a Shimano Dura-Ace platform into a unique sub-7kg beauty.

By marrying ENVE’s mid-depth SES 3.4 wheels, ENVE’s own 31mm tubeless tyres, their new SES AR In-Route one-piece handlebar, and CeramicSpeed bearings, every part is chosen to push speed, comfort, and control to the next level.

Here are details of the build and how it fits together.

Pearson Forge Frame & Fork

Pearson’s bike fit lead geometry optimises reach and stack for an optimal yet racing-oriented position. Frameset details for size M:

  • Material: Hybrid layup of Toray T800 and M40JB high-modulus carbon
  • Frame weight: 732g
  • Fork weight: 400g; 50mm offset, tapered 1 1/8"→1 1/2" steerer for precise steering
  • BB shell: threaded T47mm
  • Head tube angle: 72.5°; seat tube angle: 74°
  • Tyre clearance: up to 35 mm for mudguards or wider rubber
  • Internal routing: Di2 and mechanical-suitable channels
  • Warranty: 5 years transferable; UK-built with custom paint options

Benefits

  • Pinpoint lateral stiffness for power transfer
  • Tuned vertical compliance in seatstays for chattering roads
  • Confident handling at speed, even under load

ENVE SES 3.4 Wheelset

A true all-rounder, the SES 3.4 balances low drag, crosswind stability, and climbing agility. It's the perfect choice for virtually any ride, keeping weight to a minimum while still being able to deliver the punch needed for explosive, fast efforts.

  • Rim depth: 39mm front, 43mm rear aerodynamic profile
  • Internal width: 25 mm hookless optimised for 28–32mm tyres
  • Brake interface: disc-only, centerlock rotor fitting
  • Spoke count: 24 straight-pull (front), 24 (rear)
  • Total wheelset weight: 1380g (pair)

Benefits

  • Predictable handling in variable winds
  • Snappy acceleration and climbing response
  • Lifetime rim warranty

ENVE SES AR In-Route One-Piece Handlebar

Custom-tuned for all-road versatility, the SES AR In-Route integrates cockpit, cables, and comfort. This bar offers extraordinary stability in each of the three hand positions.

The tops are ergonomically shaped to fit the palm without the discomfort often associated with rangey aero profiles. A welcome perch for climbing and opportunity to stretch the back out.

The reach into the lever hood offers a natural extension and greater contact area for a well-supported grip, while the flared drop is shallow enough to sustain longer efforts than riders might usually be able to hold in a lower position.

  • Construction: high-modulus carbon fibre with AR-specific layup
  • Dimensions (40 cm/90 mm stem): 380g total weight
  • Clamp diameter: 31.8 mm; reach: 76 mm; drop: 129 mm; flare: 18°
  • Ergonomics: compound-shaped tops, shallow flare for natural drop hold

Benefits

  • Cleaner aerodynamics around levers and stem
  • High torsional stiffness with tuned compliance in tops/drops
  • Fully internal routing for a minimalist aesthetic

ENVE SES 31mm Tubeless Tyres

ENVE’s debut tyre blends aero profiling with tubeless performance. The 31mm tyres sit perfectly with the 25mm internal rim, offering a well-rounded profile for consistent contact when straight lining or leaning in.

Depending on the terrain and type of outing, modify the pressure from a staggering low 35psi for extra grip and comfort (they still feel sufficiently pumped), to 75psi for faster, smoother road outings.

For the doubters of tubeless, when set up correctly, the ride quality is like no other. The feel is silky smooth, swift and provides confidence-inspiring grip in and out of corners. In the rare event of a puncture not self-sealing, employing a simple 'plug' is a quick and easy solution, even for the mechanically reluctant rider to start rolling again.

  • ETRTO: 31-622; compatible with 19–25mm internal rims
  • Compound: silica-infused natural/synthetic rubber for grip and wear
  • Puncture belt: Vectran layer for debris protection
  • Bead: hookless tubeless; runs 35–75psi without pinch flats
  • Weight: ~285g each

Benefits

  • 10–15 % lower rolling resistance versus clinchers
  • Comfort and traction of lower pressures on mixed surfaces
  • Self-sealing sealant dramatically cuts puncture chances

CeramicSpeed Bearings

Friction-slashing CeramicSpeed SLT headset bearings come standard in every Pearson build; we added a CeramicSpeed bottom bracket - designed for maximum durability, engineered to outlast any other. It features hardened stainless-steel races and Grade-3 Silicon Nitride ceramic balls for ultra-low friction, and it's well worth the extra spend in the longer term.

Benefits

  • Up to 75% less bearing friction than steel
  • High moisture protection due to custom-engineered seals and dust covers.
  • Extended service intervals and weatherproof seals
  • Backed by a lifetime warranty

Fizik Aliante Adaptive Saddle

The Aliante Adaptive pairs Fizik’s classic waved profile with next-gen 3D-printed padding for enduring comfort. As the title suggests, its profile adapts to the shape of your anatomy without compromising the support and stability required from a performance saddle. This newcomer has been hugely popular with our customers from the outset.

  • Model: Tempo Aliante R1 Adaptive
  • Padding: Adaptive 3D-printed lattice zones for tailored cushioning
  • Dimensions: widths available in 145mm (197g) and 155mm (204g)
  • Rails: carbon 7×9mm

Benefits

  • Even pressure distribution across the sit bones
  • Waved profile supports natural pelvic rocking and weight shifts
  • Wider tail platform improves stability on long rides and variable terrain
  • Precision carbon rails save weight while maintaining strength under load
